BringChange2Mind.org

Help us fight the stigma against mental illness. Visit the website BringChange2Mind.org for ways you can help. There are many ways to stand up against the negativity, and most dont all include giving money.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) launched BringChange2Mind.org to make learning about mental illness and getting help easy. On this site, you can tell your story, get facts about mental illness, get help or get involved. **At the very least, watch the videos.** They are immensely powerful and provide wonderful stories about everyday people, like you and me, who are living with mental illness and those who support them.

"1 in 6 adults and almost 1 in 10 children suffer from a diagnosable mental illness. Yet, for many, the stigma associated with the illness, can be as great a challenge as the disease itself. This is where the misconceptions stop. This is where bias comes to an end. This is where we change lives. Because this is where we Bring Change 2 Mind." ~BringChange2Mind.org

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope... and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. ~Robert F. Kennedy

We're Baaaaaack!

Hey everyone!
Sorry we have been away for so long. We were super busy with the Dandelion Ball, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It was last Saturday, September 12th. It was a huge success! We had over 230 people in attendance! ! It was held at The University of Colorado, at Folsom Field on the Club Level. Its really a beautiful venue with the field and flatirons in the background.

The auction items this year were the best we've ever had. There was a ton of interest in both the silent and live auction! The paddle raiser was also very successful, considering the state of the economy. Thank you to Rob, our auctioneer!

We had several new additions this year: silent auction items that went specifically to clients in benefit of our Capital Campaign. As opposed to it being a highest bidder wins item, everyone who bid bought the specific item for a client. People purchased things such as magazine subscriptions, winter jackets, bus passes, grocery coupons, etc. Thank you to everyone who donated items and services to our auctions! You are appreciated!

Another great addition this year was our emcee, Gary Shapiro from 9news. He did an awesome job kicking off the event and keeping the crowd laughing! Thanks Gary and 9news!

Perhaps one of the best additions this year was the motown band, who had the entire venue dancing until the wee hours of the morning. One on One and The Miles Apart band was beyond phenomenal. Thank you guys!!!

We also had awesome sponsorship, from companies like Caplan and Earnest, John Truhlar and Betty Hoye, Boulder Design Alliance, MircroMotion Emerson, The Schweppe Foundation, Wells Fargo, Henry Ham Insurance, Centerplate, Exempla, Swarztrauber Family, Peter Enichen, Steve and Barbara Taniguichi, Windhorse, Avanti, Boulder Community Hospital, Jim and Linda Karagas, Flatirons Bank, and Roche Colorado. This was a phenomenal year for sponsorship- thank you so much to all of our sponsors!!!

Thank you to everyone who came to support us! We greatly appreciate everything each and every one of you do!

The volunteer turnout was also great. Please let us know if you would like to help in the future!

Last but not least, thank you to the Fund Development network, specifically Kelly Cochran and Sue Williams, for putting on such a wonderful event. The long days and numerous hours must have been painful, but you turned out a great event! Everything was beautiful and wonderful!

A Few Details About Our Campaign

Our excitement about this campaign grows as we get further into the process!
Some important new developments:
- We just finished developing our logo, which is our current picture! The idea is that is similar to The Mental Health Center's logo, with a Capital Campaign twist. It is yellow and glowing which supports our values of providing serenity and peace.
- We are still developing all of the campaign marketing materials other than the logo and our tagline. Our tagline is: Give. Build. Transform.
- We are updating you weekly, as well as sharing other quotes, stories and positive thoughts for the day.

-We are in the beginning stages of developing our campaign statement.

We plan on giving you weekly updates as well as sharing our favorite quotes and thoughts for the day!

Take care.
